This blog is meant to inspire book lovers of all stages to expand your worlds and explore genres that are beyond your comfort zone.
As an avid reader from a very young age, I have recently opened up my world to new experiences and adventures that I didn’t realize I loved. My inspiration came from a podcast that is hosted by my two daughters and their friend, Jenna, Marissa, and Megan. You can check this out by searching for them on your podcast platform under “The Braless Book Guild”.
I used to read strictly legal suspense and murder mystery tropes, but with an open-mindedness brought on by my girls I have fallen in love with non-fiction, mythological based books, science fiction, and fantasy as well. I have expanded my platforms to both physical books and audio books. I used to read ebooks, but personally I love to feel a book in my hands when I read. Chalk it up to nostalgia.
So why audio books then? I needed more literature than I had time to read. So audio books became my constant companion and a fantastic alternative to physical books. I now have books I’m reading, and books I’m listening to as well. Give it a try!
Ok, so in order to keep from making this blog a never-ending story, I’m going to wrap it up with a recommendation for a platform, and for a book. Pun intended!
First of all, my platform recommendation is the Libby app for audio books. It’s free with a library card, and the books are free as well. The downside is that sometimes there is a waiting list for books. There are other platforms if you aren’t willing to wait, but they do require subscriptions.
Secondly I will recommend a trilogy by Claudia Gray (book 1) A Thousand Pieces of You (book 2) Ten Thousand Skies Above You and (book 3) A Million Worlds With You. I am currently on book 3 in the audio books.
Finally, I want this blog to be an open forum of a book club, so feel free to share your thoughts and opinions on books you’ve read. Please DO NOT include Spoilers. I will do my best to edit out Spoilers, but as a courtesy to other blog readers, let them be surprised.
